Elder Statesman, Nwobodo Calls For Peace; Says, Law And Order Necessary For Stability

A household name in Imo State, and Director, Due Process and Project Monitoring, Imo State Polytechnic, Umuagwo, Chief Lawrence Evans Nwobodo, has advocated for peace and normalcy to return in Imo State.
The call was propelled out of his burning desires to see  the State bubble again with administrative, economic and social activities as it used to, devoid of palpable fear.
Chief Nwobodo made the passionate appeal following the uprising insecurity that had bedevilled the State, such as killings, destruction of lives and property, massive arrests and detentions insisting that no nation or State develops in the face  of killings and societal unrest.
Chief Nwobodo charged all Imo residents to join hands in restoring peace and decorum in the State, rather than fanning the embers of war.
According to him, “Over the past weeks and months, we as Imo people have witnessed unprecedented loss of life and properties. We cannot replace those lost lives, neither can we at this point afford to replace the properties we had suffered to acquire in the past”.
“We had even lost some the structure that we got as our share of Federal Government assets, such as police stations etc. All these destructions and loss of precious lives should stop now for us to make progress”.
The Oru East born peace advocate warned that if paraventure war erupts, the resultant effects would be catastrophic, and pleaded that peace be given a chance.
He averred, “Many people are finding it difficult to feed now when we are not at war, yet there are drums of war everywhere. People who find it difficult to feed in times like this, is it at war they will get food to it?
“I am not oblivious of the fact that many families, have lost their loved ones but with forgiveness in our hearts, we can achieve peace and return our dear State Imo to the part of progress”, he said.
The Internationally trained scholar commended the Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma for his leadership sagacity in combating the insecurity challenges, and moves for peaceful co-existence just as  Law and order are relevant ingredients for a sustainable development and growth.
He commended the Governor  Senator  Hope Uzodimma for having  done so much to restore law and order in the State, and called on all opinion moulders especially the political class, the clergy, leaders of thought and  indeed every  Imolite  to compliment the efforts of the Governor.
