The highpoint of the live radio program of Governor Hope Uzodinma on Wednesday was the information relayed to the public about payment of salaries.

One lingering problem that has been accosting the administration of Uzodinma since one year in office is the issue of non-payment of salaries and pensioners.

During the program which was aired live by the Imo Broadcasting Corporation, IBC radio and TV stations, callers bombarded the governor with questions related to non-payment of salaries and pensions.

In his response to the inquires, why he has not been able to pay claimants,

Uzodinma said that only those with what he called Imo Number are entitled to receive salaries and pensions adding that those who have problems should call certain four numbers for clarification.

According to him, “anybody that doesn’t have the Imo number is assumed that he is not a civil servant in Imo State payroll. And those who have received salaries before now without the Imo number, received it out of grace, but won’t continue again”.

It became dramatic when a particular caller  who claimed to be a civil servant and has not received his salary was asked by the governor to mention his Imo Number which he failed to do, prompting  Uzodinma to state “ Have you seen it, anybody without an Imo Number should know what to do to be paid”.
