The member representing Ehime Mbano/ Ihitte Uboma/ Obowo Federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Emeka Nwajiuba has revealed how Okorocha alleged by caused the South East to lose vital positions in the National Assembly.
Information gathered recently in a national daily Nwajiuba spoke to revealed that, Okorocha’s refusal to allow level playing ground for the House of Representatives primaries facilitated the failure in the zoning of speakership position.
According to him, the former governor’s imposition and the ensuing resistance that followed his actions, destroyed cohesion in the party in Imo, undermined primaries and subsequently led to its nullification by the court.
He informed that, he was President Buhari’s preferred choice for speakership position but Okorocha disobeyed the President’s instructions on the Imo APC NASS primaries.
He also used the opportunity to explain that, contrary to the insinuation that Mohammadu Buhari hates Ndigbo, he pointed out that the president doesn’t dislike people of the South East, nor was it his fault that the people did not get any leadership position in NASS.
It would be recalled that, Nwajiuba lost the election to APC’s Chike Okafor, but through the instrumentality of the Court, he became victorious when the judge declared that the runner up to the race be declared winner.
One of the aspirants for the APC ticket had gone to court to seek redress by claiming Okafor’s emergence didn’t go through due process in line with the constitution.
Instead of allowing the petitioner have the ticket, the court favoured Nwajiuba who has since received certificate of Return and sworn-in.
In a swift reaction, Senator Rochas Okorocha has refutted the claim by Hon. Nwajiuba.
In a press release signed by the Special Adviser to the senator on media, Sam Onwuemeodo, he stated that, Nwajiuba was never a member of the All Progressives Congress and has always anchored his politics on name dropping.
He stated further that, Nwajiuba is among the politician who doesn’t believe in grassroots politics but would prefer to dictate from Abuja, as the politician was not the choice of his people.
