Poly Nek Activist, Okere lived a good life-PRO


The sudden demise of Mr. Bernard Okere who lectures at the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri has been described as untimely and a colossal loss to the world of academics.

Narrating his experience with the late academic ICON, the PRO of the institution, Mr. Nze said that the news of the later came to them as a surprise, adding that the legacies he left behind would always speak for him.

He also wondered why death struck Mr. Okere when his services were needed most; “late Okere was a social activist, a consumerate academic who distinguished himself among his mates.  In fact, his death is indeed a colossal loss to this institution, and very irreparable.  This gentle man served this school in various leadership positions and during his service time, he was not found wanting and that shows how patriotic he was.  In fact, his steadfastness made our union to re – elect him for another term of secretarial work.  And he performed his work diligently.  But what we pray is for God to welcome his soul.

The PRO also enjoined the police to conduct a thorough investigation in order to unravel the course of his death, adding that the latter sustained various degrees of injuring, which shows that he was knocked down by an Okada man.  And opined that the killer has been arrested by the fire service police station, Owerri, where he is being interrogated on the mater, while calling on the family of the deceased not to mourn like those without faith, adding that God would give them the fortitude to bear the loss.
