The 2019 governorship ambition of Barr. Humphrey Anumudu for Imo State Douglas House has received the consent of Orlu and Owerri zones.
Barrister Anumudu had earlier picked and submitted his expression of interest and nomination forms for Imo governorship position, under the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.
In a political tour to the zones over the weekend, which started with Orlu zone on Friday, Anumudu was greeted with a cheering reception by the wards and LGA leaders of APGA, drawn across the 12 Council areas of Orlu zone.
At the Amaifeke hall, Chief Anumudu expressed optimism that what other political parties could not do, can only be actualized through APGA.
Speaking to the conscience of the electorate, he told them to consider his immense contributions towards the growth of humanity, as well as to consider the pedigree of all the aspirants.
Soliciting for their supports, Anumudu beckoned on them to give him the desired votes and supports, pointing out that by his level of experience and exposure in politics, he wouldn’t betray their trust if given him the opportunity to serve as a State Governor by 2019.
According to him, “APGA will give Imo people the desired governance needed, that PDP and APC could not give. I promise to be a worthy ambassador of the party, and to deliver a sound governance”.
Speaking further, he promised to be a worthy ambassador of the party, saying it’s a party of the masses.
He told them that it is the best opportunity for the “Okokorokoo” party to produce the next governor, judging by the fact that it only has one governor across the South East.
Among those in the campaign train were Hon Chief Gerry Ogu, Hon Cosmos Unakalamba, Sir Festus Ihemtuge, Prince Ugonna Achuko, Chief Friday Nzekwe, Hon Emeka Ibeh, and Mr Christopher Ejiogu.
Also spotted in the tour was a frontline House of Assembly aspirant for Ahiazu Mbaise State constituency, Amb. Andrew Amaechi.
Earlier in her speech, the State Women leader of the party, Lady Maria Mbanuzuo (Mama Uwa) confirmed that Anumudu is a good man with impeccable character whose generosity for the growth of the party speaks volume.
In their respective speeches, the 12 LGA APGA chairmen assured Chief Anumudu of their unflinching loyalty and supports.
While addressing the LGA and Ward officers from the nine local Governments of Owerri zone at Ugwu Ekwema on Saturday, Barrister Anumudu said that though all of them aspiring from Owerri zone are all qualified, that he still has an edge of experience over others.
He urged the party to think of APGA after primaries bearing in mind that that is when party problems manifest, insisting that he has the magic wand to unite everybody.
“Remove sentiments as you go for the primaries and think of a person like Anumudu who will wipe off tears in the eyes of Ndi Imo”.
Continuing, he said that he has determination borne out of genuine interest for Ndi Imo and gave assurance that with him as the next governor of the State, Imo people will once again be proud of their state -Imo.
He made it clear that all those who helped to run the State aground will be made to answer for it when he resume office as the people’s Governor.
Majority of the people who spoke during the question and answer session ended up pouring encomium on him with words of encouragement and support.
