It was a gory sight to behold on Monday morning as residents of Mgbirichi community in Ohaji/Egbema LGA of Imo woke up to meet the slain body of beheaded woman whose private parts were chopped off by unknown persons and dumped on the road.
Reminiscent of the Otokoto days when the beheaded head of an 11 yr old boy caused mayhem, the development has created apprehension in the community.
Though the true identity of the victim has not been unveiled but tongues are wagging that it could be one of the students of the Imo State polytechnic, Umuagwo residing in the area.
Trumpeta gathered that persons suspected to be ritual murderers may have beheaded the woman, while one of her breasts was also cut off.
The incident which happened in Mgbirichi community in the Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State on Monday, sent residents into a state of panic when the headless body was found lying somewhere near the Owerri/Port Harcourt Expressway.
It was also gathered that the woman, whose identity had yet to be ascertained, was murdered in the early hours of Monday.
A resident of the community who pleaded not to be mentioned told our correspondent that the beheaded woman was seen in the community on Sunday.
According to the resident, the community woke up on Monday morning to a disturbing sight of a woman who had been “beheaded, with one of her breasts also severed, lying on the road.”
He told our Correspondent that the villagers had alerted the police to the development.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Andrew Enwerem, who confirmed the killing, said that the Police had launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
