Abaekwume Joins Imo Guber Race. .Says Okorocha Needs Help, Not Criticisms

Former Boss of Owerri Capital Development Authority OCDA Chief Iheanyi Abaekwume has joined the race for the 2019 Imo State Governorship election, even as he said that the present Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha needs help, and not the plethora of criticisms trailing his style of Governance.

Speaking to journalists in Owerri, Abaekwume who is an Estate Management guru based in Abuja, said that he is joining the race to change the present situation of things in Imo State, as what Imo needs now is a man with managerial experience without political liability on his shoulders.

The Mbaitoli LGA born politician cum technocrat maintained that Imo people should play down on partisan politics now and choose a man capable of turning Imo State around within a short possible time, because Okorocha’s administration has raised a lot of dusts that needs to be settled.

He said that Imo State is in an emergency situation politically and economically and therefore needs no more blame-game, but should look for that man who can change the ugly situation now, which is his major concern of joining the race.

“We need an intervention Governor to solve this problems created by Okorocha. People should play down on partisan politics and choose the best man for the job” he said.

Abaekwume who refused to disclose the political platform under which he will execute his Governorship project, hinted that in today’s Imo State, political platform will not matter in 2019 election, because the masses have learnt a lot lessons, but promised to make the political party open soon.

He assured to use his experience as an Estate guru to touch lives of Imo people in every sector, especially by improving Imo economy so that the poor can afford food, housing and provide education for their children.

On the Okorocha urban Renewal policy, he said it was a good project, only that Okorocha failed to carry the people, press and other sectors along in such a policy that would dislocate both human resources and physical structures.

He also said that he likes Okorocha’s bold approach in taking decisions as a leader, but the only problem is that his policies lack consultations and appropriate approaches.

“If I am elected Governor, I know what to do. I will not be greedy, I will consult, I will be a team player, and must put the masses first in my decisions” he pledged.

On why a lot of people are joining Imo Governorship race in 2019, Abaekwume said it is an indication that Okorocha has not done well, because if he has performed well, not many people would have been interested in Imo Governorship seat in 2019.
