Following the out-come of the just concluded the All Progressives Congress APC Ward Congresses held across the Federation on Saturday, the Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha became an uninvited guest of President Mohammadu Buhari, who was in his native Daura, in Katsina State participating in the Congress.
Okorocha who landed at Katsina Airport with a chartered Flight was in of company of Prof Nnamdi Obiaraeri his Commissioner for information and Hon Chike Okafor member House of Representatives.
Sources in Daura said that Imo State Governor suddenly stormed the home of Buhari, without prior information of his visit, but was however received by the President.
Trumpeta sources said that immediately Okorocha was ushered in, he delved into Hausa language with the President, while his entourage who do not understand the Hausa Language watched their principal, with shaking of heads in agreement, even without knowing what their Boss was discussing with Buhari.
However, from instinct, Obiareri, and Okafor knew that what Okorocha was telling Buhari was the outcome of the Congress in Imo, which shocked Okorocha to his bone marrows as we was trounced with his political Group, Rescue Mission otherwise called “Ndi Agburu Rochas”.
Sources said that Okorocha pleaded to Buhari to come to his rescue, as he claimed that no Congress held in Imo State, because both the materials and officials sent to conduct the congresses disappeared till date.
Okorocha was said to have tried to convince the President that what took place in Imo in the name of Congress was a shame.
However, after listening to Okorocha, President Buhari was said to have asked Okorocha if he was not among the State Governors that requested for a fresh Congress before 2019 elections, which our sources said Okorocha replied in the affirmative.
The President was said to have called in Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara State, who is the chairman of Nigerian Governors Forum, and happens to be around when Okorocha arrived.
Yari was quoted to have said “You know that in a democracy you cannot expect everything to work 100%. But in our region from the information available to us, everything went well in Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara and Kano. But anybody that has complain, there is a committee set up by the National Executive of the party. They should take their complains there so that they will attend to them”
Governor Yari was among the State Governors who requested for fresh Congresses. Therefore, in replying Okorocha, President Buhari was said to have advised Okorocha who wanted an outright cancellation of the exercise in Imo to go follow the APC guideline by approaching the Appeal Panel Committee for reprieve with his facts and evidences.
The President was said to have told Okorocha that he will not interrupt with Party activities, and therefore should follow APC due process.
Sources close to the President said Buhari was surprised that Okorocha was lamenting after he had earlier before the congress assured the President that he is incharge of APC in the Southeast, and now cannot even deliver his State in a party Congress.
And again, the President was not appalled with the calibre of APC members that accompanied Okorocha to Daura, as Buhari was expecting people like Imo Senators or top Imo APC chieftains including the Imo APC Chairman, Dr Hilary Eke, who has since confirmed the exercise free and fair.
Meanwhile, sources told Trumpeta that Okorocha is mobilizing to ferry Rescue Mission members for a demonstration at APC Headquaters in Abuja.
But opposition in Imo State said such action would further expose Okorocha that he is not on ground in Imo APC.
