It was songs of joy and happiness for the admitted patients receiving treatments at the Awo Omamma General Hospital last week, as the member representing Oru East constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon Nkenna Nzeruo cleared all their bills.

It was more like a miracle for the hopeless patients and their guardians when they were told that all the accruable levies regarding their treatments have been taken care of by one man.

This however happened during one of the unscheduled visits of the Honorable member to the General Hospital in his constituency, and as one of his numerous medical outreaches in his usual way of visiting the sick and rendering possible assistance.

Hon Nkenna Nzeruo was accompanied by his spouse, Lolo Ifeoma Nzeruo who has also been on the same page with her hubby.

Upon his arrival at the Hospital, he was conducted round the various wards including the Maternity ward, Pediatric ward, and HIV/AIDS ward, by a team of Nurses.

After the hospital ward tour, the lawmaker proceeded to the Medical Director’s office, Dr. Dan Anyaegbule, where he wrote a cheque covering all the bills of the patients, who were anticipated to have been detained in the hospital even after receiving treatments for lack of finance.

The cheque was received by one of the Doctors on duty, Dr. Onyike Chizurum, from Umuokpara in Okigwe LGA.

He poured encomiums on the legislator for always coming to the aide of the hospital management and the patients, pointing out that his assistance is part of the things that keeps the General hospital moving.

Dr. Chizurum aptly described Hon. Nzeruo as an exemplary leader whose type is rare among the present politicians. He opined that the humanitarian gestures he always exhibits goes a long way in saving souls, adding that he does that without segregation. The elated medical practitioner however enjoined others to borrow a leaf.

Some of the beneficiaries of the honorable member’s goodwill were;  Uzoma Nze, from Ogbuke, Ogbaku, Mrs Chikezie Nnamuka of Umuokwe, Awo-Omamma, Ndidiamaka Nwagwu from Amazano, Njaba LGA, Mr. Ndefor Uzoma, from Uzinaumu, Mgbidi, to mention but a few.

Some of them who couldn’t hold back their tears of joy thanked Nkenna Nzeruo for coming to their needs, praying unceasingly that God shall bless and grant his heart desires for lifting their burdens, sorrows away.

According to the honorable Nzeruo, “The reason why God gives riches is not for one’s use alone, but to better the lives of many who needs it more. Of what essence is my living when I cannot fulfill God’s purpose of my life in this world, and live others to die in their anguish, sorrow? I derive joy seeing those I am better off happy; the indigent people, the vulnerable ones among us. To God be the glory”.
