Spurred by his undying love for Governor Rochas Okorocha and the Imo Rescue Missionaries, a former Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who defected recently to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Tony Mgbudom over the weekend disbursed cash to facilitate acquisition of APC Ward offices in Njaba Local Government Area.
Addressing APC Ward Excos and party faithful at his country-home, Umuokpo Nkume in Njaba Local Government of Imo State, Chief Mgbudom, the Onwa 1 of Njaba who also doubles as the initiator of Njaba Devine initiative, said that, his aligning with the APC was as a result of the achievements and transparency of the State Governor, Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha Ph.D.
Chief Mgbudom said, “Prior to the assumption of his Excellency Rochas Okorocha into office, I was discouraged to invest in Imo, looking at what Owelle has done, I had to invest, now I am one of the investors in Imo”
Mgbudom, who is also the Group Managing Director of Tigana Oil and Gas limited told newsmen that the level of APC dominance in Njaba have been greatly reduced. He however said he would ensure that every Ward in Njaba acquire APC offices which will in turn create (Leadership) positions for party faithful.
Speaking with Newsmen immediately after the meeting, Chief Mgbudom said, “few days ago, National Executive Council, NEC of the party in Abuja decided unanimously to elongate the tenure of the existing party leadership. So I called the ward Executive Councils to congratulate them, haven seen the good work of his Excellency Owelle Okorocha. Governor Okorocha is the reason why I joined the party. Before I joined the party, there was no ward office, but today I succeeded in disbursing cash to help acquire party offices in Njaba LGA”
Asked if he has any intention to contest in the forthcoming 2019 general elections, Chief Mgbudom replied, “if my people want me to represent them at any level, I will do that, I have the capacity. I donated the high tension electricity in my community, installed a 500 KVA transformer and other achievements”.
Chief Mgbudom frowned at the behavour of most politicians who steal the people’s mandate, disappear into thin air, only to resurface few months to elections to offer peanuts to members of the community.
Also speaking with newsmen, Hon. Ichie Dr Owen Njepuome, the State Development Council Coordinator Amucha Ward one and Political Adviser, Njaba Devine Initiative commended Chief Mgbudom’s 2.5 million naira donation. As the Njaba APC Chairman, Hon Njepuome Kennedy in his words, described Chief Mgbudom as a devoted party men, and grassroot oriented politician.
The Deputy Speaker Imo State House of Assembly, Hon Ugonna Ozuruigbo in his speech, lauded Chief Mgbudom and the APC in Njaba LGA over development strides.
The Director General, Devine Mandate project Initiative, Pastor Odinaka Lebechi also expressed his happiness over the kind gesture of Chief Mgbudom.
