A renowned Business Mogul and Chief Executive officer of Sweet Apple services limited, Chief Dennis Ejikeme Okwu, has formally declared his intention to contest the election into Imo State House of Assembly to Represent Ikeduru State constituency.
Chief Okwu made this declaration while addressing members of the people’s Democratic Party, PDP when party faithful stormed the PDP local Government Office in Akabo, Ikeduru local government Area over the weekend to give him their support.
The Business man cum philanthropist, Sweet Apple who fondly welcomed the unanimous wish of members of the united progressive Ikeduru and sweet apple mandate said the people of Ikeduru have yearned for a way to expressive their displeasure over issues left unaddressed for the past four years, adding that the huge turnout was a form of expression.
Chief Okwu said, “I want to tell the PDP, I am coming out to vie for the Ikeduru State constituency seat come 2019. I want to assure you that I will follow the process according to your dictate. Though I know, I am not the finest of all men. Who knows? Maybe God wants to use this avenue to address crucial issues. I believe I have been blessed by the factors necessary for winning this race”.
Speaking on the concept of effective representation, Chief Okwu urged citizens to elect credible leaders whose aim differ greatly from corrupt politicians who finds happiness in looting public funds and erecting hotels in hidden corners.
He promised to ensure that Ikeduru sons and daughters have a taste of governance.
“if I become a member of the house, Ikeduru will be respected. I am sure, if I am given the ticket, I will win the election and my beloved people of Ikeduru will reap great dividends. I have gone round Ikeduru and her citizens have given me special blessings” Chief Okwu said.
In his speech, the local government party chairman, Hon. Deacon Inno Ofurum described sweet apple as a devoted PDP member whose contributions have aided the rapid growth of the party in the State especially in the area of infrastructure.
Also speaking, a PDP colossus, Hon High Chief Uche Igbokwe Esq, hinted that Ikeduru citizens are in need of energetic lawmakers, saying “I have no doubt about sweet apple’s qualities”.
Speaking on behalf of Ikeduru women, Chief Mrs. Cheryl Amaonu said sweet apple belongs to the class of those who have over paid their dues, adding that sweet apple is very accessible while pledging total support for Chief Okwu (Sweet Apple).
The zonal Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, Sir Bon Unachukwu while speaking on behalf of the State leadership described sweet apple as a strong member of the party who remained during challenging times against all odds. He however assured Imolites of free and fair primary elections.
Speaking with newsmen immediately after the event, the coordinator of the programme, Hon Sam Amaonu said, “Chief Dennis loves competition, he has been tested and trusted, he has contested for chairmanship and other elective positions, he has been patient enough, now we are of the opinion that the time is right”.
Other dignitaries present include former House member, Chief Hon. Alex Emeziem, Dr Joe Emeka Chibundu, Hon Emma Meziem among others.
