Traders operating at Orie Ugwu market, Orlu in Orlu Local Government Area have been directed to relocate to Orlu international market on or before the27th of this month or face detention and prosecution.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Mayoral Affairs, Orlu zone, Mrs Stella Odimegwu who gave the directive in a meeting she held with the traders at the local government Headquarters revealed that there are over one thousand vacant shops in the international market.
Mrs Odimegwu stressed the need for zoning of the market to enable people selling the same commodity to stay together for easy access and expressed her preparedness to ensure that the market flourishes.
She disclosed that all empty shops would be allocated to traders that are physically present and who are ready to do business.
The Senior Special Assistant acknowledged the problems facing the traders in relocating to the International Market to include zoning of the market, dilapidated state of the road leading to the market and promised to channel them to the appropriate quarters soliciting the support of the traders to enable her succeed.
Responding, the market master of the Orlu International Market. Mr. Ashe Oguike thanked the mayor for the meeting and promised to maximize his potentials to ensure that the market flourishes.
