The leadership of Okigwe Youth Assembly, (OYA), a socio – cultural youth organization in Okiwe zone, has described the request for a private University for the zone and the confirmation of Prof BEB Nwoke as IMSU V.C by Odinma Okigwe Union as selfish and anti–democratic.

According to a release made available to Imo Trumpeta and signed by the National President, Secretary and publicity Secretary, Dr. Harold Onumo, Mr.Kenneth Okonkwo, Mr. Gregory Nwokeke respectively, the body condemned in its entirely the agitation of the said group.

Okigwe Youth Assembly described Prof Ezeadi and Mr.EJK Onumo who are the leaders of Odinma Okigwe union as political sycophants who have caged the zone for so many years, adding that such persons should not be allowed to make contributions to issues of public concern, while urging the people of the area to disregard such requests.

The Organization however advised Prof Ezeadi and his acolytes to find better jobs for themselves, instead of embarking on disgraceful courtesy calls.  It also urged Governor Rochas Okorocha to complete the abandoned IMSU School of Engineering at Onuimo adding that it would project him (Okorocha) for greatness.  “Okigwe Youth Assembly demands that Governor Okorocha should with the same zeal, commence the completion of theSchoolofEngineeringofImoStateUniversityat Onuimo as he applied at the Ogboko turnedImoEuropeanUniversity.  In view of the fact that IMSU Teaching Hospital is fully functional at Orlu zone, completing theschoolofEngineeringat Onuimo will no doubts is the greatest honour anyone will give to the late legend and patriot, Chief Sam Mbakwe”.

On the confirmation of Prof. Nwoke as substantive Vice Chancellor of IMSU, “OYA is of the opinion that the leaders of Odinma Okigwe Social Cultural Union displayed crass ignorance which has prompted some reactions from Orluzurume Youth Assembly; while there is no doubts that Prof.BEB Nwoke remains a humble scholar of international repute, who as the Acting V.C has performed well, but his confirmation should not be done in a controversial manner.

It would be re–called that Odinma Okigwe Union had requested Governor Rochas Okorocha to build a private University, commence the establishment of Technical College of Education in the zone and the confirmation of Prof BEB Nwoke as IMSU Vice Chancellor.  The requests were made when the leadership of Odinma Okigwe paid a courtesy call to Governor Okorocha, which many described as a display of ignorance.”
