Asoluka Calls For Action On Proposed Industrialization, Economic Transformation

A frontline politician, Hon. Dr. Chris Asoluka (Okwuruoha), on Monday in Owerri, called on the Federal and State Governments to focus their policies on industrialization and economic transformation.
He made this call while delivering a keynote address on the occasion of the 2017 South-East Youth Summit organized by Osigwe Anyiam Osigwe Foundation which took place at the Rockview Hotels, Owerri.
Speaking on the importance of Industrialization and the transformation of the economy, Dr. Asoluka said that the concepts if applied will address the recent economic slow-down, triggered by low commodity prices and a fall in demand from Europe and China, adding that the concepts
was captured in both the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development and Africa’s Agenda 2063.
He expressed optimism that Nigeria as a country and Africa’s growth is expected to strengthen again next year and is likely to be based mainly on commodity exports, extractive industries and the efforts of the youth in Africa.
“Across Africa we see young people, empowered by Information and Communications Technologies and by their own energy and creativity, setting up businesses and connecting with markets. They have the potential to link to global value chains, and to help their countries leap frog into the higher value added service and industrialization”.
Dr. Asoluka adviced the s, and grants to build youth capacity and enhance productivity which is geared towards raising incomes, growing jobs, and improving livelihoods.
