Your Excellency Sir, Wetin We Go Do Naa?
Ordinarily, nobody would have thought that the present era would reach so soon. 2015 reminds one of the year 2000 which we believed then had alot of goodies in stock. Remember sayings like year 2000 health for all, education for all, housing for all, infact, everything for all including wives and husbands for all. Today, year 2000 is come and gone, yet we have not shifted a pace.
Now 2015 is coming and it is tagged “Election year” in Nigeria. The pendulum of various parties is swinging, meetings are held even till the next morning all preparatory to 2015.
From the look of things, the political heat is hotter in Imo State because while the major party in opposition (PDP) is struggling to recapture the Douglas House it ceded because of one careless mistake, the party on seat (APC) is seriously interested in a second missionary journey.
While the main gladiators are relaxing and mapping out strategies, their “oti nkpus” are seriously engulped in media wars vis a vis social media and prominently among these in the media is the facebook. The acronyms such ORO, OMC and OMG are no more new to us.
For the avoidance of doubt “OMC” means Owelle Must Come (back) while “OMG” means Owelle Must Go (out). The “OMC” family members are interested in giving Owelle a second shot at the Douglas House, the “OMG” family is only interested in his not smelling the House again even if he (Owelle) forgets anything after the election.
Surprisingly of recent the “OMC” family members can no longer sleep with their two eyes closed especially since rumours are rife that the state governor is angling to join the PDP. The joining of PDP is not the problem but the wahala is, all these “OMC” and “OMG” groups who have shot themselves severally, what will they do if eventually Owelle is admitted into the PDP fold, while “OMC” is pro-Owelle, “OMG” is anti-Owelle.
Some of the “OMC’s” are beginning to redress their steps and have started reconciling with their “OMG” counterparts giving the political history of “ORO”. He formed Action Alliance and later abandoned it for All Nigerians Peoples Party. He abandoned it and jumped into Peoples Democratic Party when he couldn’t make it in PDP, he jumped into All Progressive Grand Alliance a platform which gave him the ticket that made him a governor. No sooner he was sworn in than he abandoned APGA and jumped into APC,
Its like there’s no light at the end of the tunnel in APC hence the recent move to PDP. The question on the lips of all who have incurred thousands of enemies because of him is “Your Excellency Sir, wetin we go do naa, if you leave us go?”
