One of the serving Transition Committee Chairmen asked to leave office to seek for other political positions by Governor Rochas Okorocha drew public attention recently when he reportedly broke down in tears while making his valedictory speech.
The event was at council headquarters of Oguta local government where the TC Chairman Dr Louis Obodo out of emotion broke down in tears during the fare well meeting.
Obodo alongside some TC Chairmen were shoved aside in a recent shake up to enable them go for election.
In 2011, Obodo was interested in the House of Reps under PDP platform before jumping over to APGA and later APC. However, in the recent development, Obodo is said to be interested in Imo House of Assembly race for 2015.
However, Trumpeta learnt that the said interest was a mere decoy by Okorocha to relieve Obodo his appointment. Obodo is said not to be in the good books of the state government following several petitions raised against him.
What may have led to Obodo’s final disengagement was reports that his actions at the council may not be in tandem with the spirit of the Rescue Mission.
Council workers and political appointees at the council secretariat were taken aback when Obodo wept while making his speech at the event. Our correspondent who observed the proceedings noted that Obodo requested for forgiveness from those he may have offended in the course of discharging his duties stating that he is bound to make mistakes as a first timer.
At that point, tears were said to be dripping from his cheeks as the workers became startled. He however ended up handing over to DAGS before taking his leave.
