Following the release of the time table for the activities of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, leading to 2015 election as well as public notice of the guideline for the selection of all important delegates for the nomination of candidates, the party’s aspirants have commenced plans to capture the delegates.
PDP schedule and formalities for delegates election were made public last week as a ratification is expected today by the highest decision making body of the party.
The disclosure of PDP guidelines and time table have changed the political tempo in Imo state as aspirants have began subtle measures to win the support of delegates. There are two categories of delegates; the statutory and three-man ad hoc delegates to be raised by each of the electoral wards in the state.
Trumpeta learnt that some of the aspirants have commenced procedures on ways of wooing the statutory delegates as well as make in roads into the various wards for possibilities of producing the ward ad hoc delegates.
Apart from putting some of the statutory delegates in their payroll and providing incentives to keep them in their kitty, some of the money bag aspirants have also gone further to raise campaign structures at the ward levels for the purposes of raising people who will vie for the ticket of the ad hoc delegates.
Our correspondents monitoring activities at the grassroots level noted that others too have started courting the relationship of ward leaders and possible delegates in the state.
According to the PDP directive there will be a national delegate to be elected at the special convention of the LGA as well as three (3) Ad Hoc Delegates from the ward.
