Imo Workers Mobilieze Against Sale of State Secretariat, As Labour Meets Today

Apparently disturbed by unconfirmed reports that the Imo state government is planning to sale the state secretariat to private operators, workers union in the state is mobilizing for a showdown against the action.
Trumpeta learnt that the Joint Negotiating Council, JNC of the labour union in the state will be meeting with workers to brain storm on several issues.
Latest report has it that all the existing ministries in the old Port Harcourt Road secretariat complex will be relocated to allow the suspected investors take over.
The JNC will be meeting to among other things also highlight the non implementation of new pay roll to reflect recent promotion extended to the workers in the state. Apart from non implementation of 2013 and 2014 promotion, it was learnt that staff in some government parasatals are still receiving salary with old rate.
Government organization like IWADA and Water Corporation are worse hit, where several backlogs of salaries are owed them.
Other matters the labour union may also consider is the problem in Imo State House of Assembly where the workers are yet to gain from the promised Overtime Allowance due to workers in the state. While other departments, ministries and government agencies enjoy the Overtime Allowance Imo State House of Assembly staffers are starved of the payment.
