Owerri Zonal Youth Platform Inaugurated, Gets Patrons, BOT, Backs Zoning

It was a convergence of brothers and sisters on Saturday 24th May 2014 when youths of Owerri zone converged en mass to witness the inauguration ceremony of the National Officers, patrons and Board of Trustee Members of Owerri Zonal Youth Platform (OZYP).
The successful event which was held at the Mana Street Primary School Field, Whetheral Road, Owerri in Imo State attracted a good number of dignitaries, Traditional Rulers and Politicians which include Dr. Chris Asoluka, Dr. Matthew Nwogu, HRH, Eze Chidubem Okoro, Deputy Chairman Imo State Council of Ndi Eze Rev. Fr. Longinus Chukwuemeka Chinagorom among others to mention but few.
Chief Martin Opara, the National President Owerri Zonal Youth Platform in his inaugural address expresses his profound gratitude to God for making the epoch making event a success. He described the event a turning point in the history of Owerri zone. He opined that the organization is a product of the collective resolve of some youth leaders and former/President student leaders from across the nine local government of Owerri zone. He further maintained that over the year we have heard almost the same name in our zone aspiring for positions and the same people occupying position, can’t there be change he queried.
Chief Opara adviced Okigwe and Orlu leaders to respect the charter of equity which has allowed power elude Owerri zone in the current Democratic dispensation for (16) sixteen years as he made it clear that the youth body has come to challenge impurity as well as to say no to injustice, marginalization of Owerri zone people and betrayal by their own leaders. He called on the youths of the zone to massively identify with the organization for the task ahead.
The chairman of the occasion, Prof. Valen Obinna of Imo State University enjoined the youths to be steadfast and committed to their aims and objective which he described as laudable. He appealed to BOT members and leaders of Owerri zone to rally round the youth group for the interest of the zone.
Dr. Chris Asoluka in his acceptance speech as one of the BOT member commended the founder of the youth group and entire youths of Owerri zone for waking up from their slumber. He maintained that Owerri zone has paid its dues in the state and deserves a chance.
However, the highlight of the occasion was the inauguration of the National Officers by the spiritual father of the day Rev Fr. Longinus Chukwuemeka.
