All Progressive Grand Alliance Chieftain and Governorship aspirant Chief Martin Agbaso has boasted that Captain Emmanuel Ihenacho will step down his Governorship ambition at the appropriate time.
Reacting to an Owerri based Newspaper publication alleging that he (Agbaso) is demanding N1b to step down for him; Chief Agbaso said that he has traced the source of the malicious damage against him to the political camp of Captain Ihenacho.
Agbaso who dismissed the allegation in its entirety said, “Why should I go to Captain Ihenacho for N1billion, and of course does he have it? Somebody who is indebted to APCON with an unserviceable debt portfolio of over N10billion.”
Continuing Chief Agbaso said, “I am better qualified and acceptable to Imo People. He has no money to give to me rather, I can give him because my money is not in-cumbered. He has no money that is not incumbered” Agbaso insists.
“So when the struggle resumes it is me that will give him money to step down for me and not the other way round. I am shocked that a man of a given age bracket in a desperate effort to capture ticket and political power would go to dirtiest extent to damage the reputation of an innocent man.”
He alleged that Captain Ihenacho’s men orchestrated the earlier allegation that he Agbaso collected money from Owelle Rochas Okorocha to step down for him in 2011. “I have said it severally that I have not and will not collect any money from Okorocha.”
“The only money I got from Okorocha which is $5,000 was when we visited Kosovo which I there and then gave to his boys to buy their gifts”.
Expressing reservations over the episode, Chief Agbaso said, “Ordinarily I would have gone ahead with my own business but it appears some people are out there to malign and destroy me. So, if they want us to go it dirty, well and good. But that will be unfortunate.” He said.
Debunking the report further, the spokes person of APGA Unity Forum Mr. Tony Mgbeahuruike told Imo Trumpeta that it is untrue that the alleged demand was brokered by his group.
Mgbeahuruike, explained that after the meeting and publications by his group last week, they have neither met themselves nor with Ihenacho or Agbaso nor initiated any meeting with both.
Insisting that he has not set his eyes on Chief Agbaso for the past one month until that Monday May 19th averred, “So I and my group APGA Unity Forum is not part of whatever the Gazette wrote.
