A group in All Progress Grand Alliance APGA, under the aegis of APGA Unity Forum with headquarters at Plot I Farmers Close, Kuje Abuja, has vowed not to allow APGA, the party they described as the light of our generation berthed from the land of the Rising sun to illuminate Nigeria of today, to die.
Addressing newsmen recently, the conveners of the forum, Chief Cyril Duruaku, Hon John Iwuala, Tony Mgbeahuruike, Chief Austin Ibe and John C Nwokorie stressed that APGA Unity Forum is a vehicle for reconciliation, a medium for perpetuation of APGA legendary strength within the Eastern Heartland and beyond, nothing that the group which cuts across the 36 states of the country and Abuja, will sustain and preach the indivisibility, indissolubility and indestructibility of APGA.
In an address read by Tony Mgbahuruike, the APGA Unity Forum stated that the court did not create APGA and cannot also determine their future, hence they called on the combatants, the Umeh and Maxi Okwu factions to remember that the future of APGA is more important than the pronouncement of the law courts and that a political solution will always be preferable to a legal fiat. “APGA is bigger and more important than any persons ambition”, the group noted.
Speaking, Chief Duruaku noted that their group is determined to provide leadership to all the teaming APGA members across the country clamouring for the unity of the party. He called on all supporters of the various factions to exercise restraint noting that the matter will be resolved and leaders reconciled by their group.
Hon Iwuala added that the rising profile of APGA has made the party a beautiful bride that party leaders are in the struggle for the soul of the party noting that crisis is a given in every human society but stressed that APGA will no doubt over come the storm and execute 2015 election more united. Chief Austin Ibe also noted that they are patriots and leaders from the two factions in APGA that make up APGA Unity Forum hence the group will take a ‘no winner, no vanquished’ position among their two great leaders at the court in order to move the party forward. While fielding questions from journalists the group noted that they will transverse the length and breadth of the country to chat with the warring camps and other aggrieved members of APGA for a genuine and progressive reconciliation stating that members of APGA Unity Forum are ready to forego any position they are holding in the different camps in order to sacrifice for the unity and progress of APGA. Mr John Nwokorie, an Abuja based leader of APGA noted that indeed APGA Unity Forum is set to rebrand APGA calling on all APGA members to remain committed as only unity of purpose can give APGA the expected victory in Imo State come 2015.
The group reaffirmed their support for President Goodluck Jonathan and in the wisdom of their leaders in the two camps to see reason to shield their swords.
The forum called on Imo people, Ndi Igbo and Nigerians to support APGA as the party of transformation, progress and emancipation of the masses and vote for the party in the 2015 general elections.
