Our correspondent who has been monitoring affairs of the party in the ongoing congress revealed that implosion is underway following disaffection in different local governments over harmonization of lists and names forwarded as ward exco and delegates for the LGA exercise.
The architect of the looming disaster is the decision of some interested party leaders to foist exco members that have no support of the party members for their selfish reasons worse hit is Oguta LGA where it was learnt that not less than 5,000 APC members have threatened to decamp en masse if a key player in the state government and Secretary to the State Government (SSG), including the chairman of the Council, Dr Louis Obodo do not allow due process and normal rules to supersede the LGA elections.
Trumpeta learnt that the Exco lists of few wards were allegedly manufactured to respond to the yearnings of some leaders than expectations of the members especially in Mgbala/Uba Agwa ward and Obudi, Aro ward, where one person was accused of writing fictitious names as Exco members.
It was gathered that despite directive for proper harmonization from the governor which the deputy governor was mandated to superintend, the SSG and council boss were accused of stage-managing mock election for the apex leaders to select LGA chairman where Felix Uba and Casmir Ohamara are said to be gunning for the position.
The said plot by the office holders to allegedly do a kangaroo election irked prominent leaders of the party in Oguta APC like the MD of ISOPADEC Prince Henry Okafor, and others who staged a walk out.
Trumpeta however gathered that should the plot ahead as planned declare any candidate not chosen by the entire APC members in Oguta, mass defection is starring the party.
In Ahiazu, the camp of Chief Onuoha known as the moral faction and progenitor of C16 group comprising the likes of guber aspirant and Cletus Onyegbule are up in arms against the group led by Adaku Ihuoma, member representing the area in the Imo State House of Assembly as well as Dr Kachi Nwogu and Victor Ihenacho, TC chairman.
Ohaji/Egbema is another LGA where APC members are sitting pretty on a keg of gun powder.
Two groups are engaged in battle of wits over who will succeed in producing the party LGA chairman and executive members. Trumpeta observed that it is a straight fight between Obodo’s sympathizers like the TC chairman and commissioner for Petroleum and Environment against Chukwu. It was learnt that the bone of the contention is the interest of the political gladiators who want to install their allies ahead of the future interest in the party.
The unending fight between the crowned apex leader of APC in Aboh Mbaise, Alan B Onyemaechi and a commissioner, Barrister Alaribe is about diminishing the chances of the party over control of the structure.
Trumpeta learnt that a disturbed Okorocha has set up machinery to calm the nerves of all warring factions to ensure a hit free LGA congress.
