Imo state Governor Rochas Okorocha who visited on-going projects at Nwangele Local Government Area during a sensitization tour stated that ex-governors of the People Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo state were neither elected nor selected by Imolites but described the ex-governors as imported governors who were chosen by the Parties big wigs from Abuja.
The governor who disclosed this at the open field of the local government council headquarters told the mammoth crowd that the PDP government are not for the interest of Imolites, he recalled that President Jonathan during his visit to Imo state mistook the Township School Owerri where his helicopter landed for a university, but was later informed by ex-governor Ohakim that it was a primary school built by the present administration.
Governor Okorocha confirmed the bountiful riches of Imo state, noting that he wouldn’t have been governor of Imo state without the resilience of Nwangele people, he pledged to improve on the existing infrastructural development going on in the L.G.A as he ordered the rehabilitation of Abba road, and also noted that 29.8km of roads have been approved with the sum of N1.788b released and N815, 950 remaining.
On the Youth Must Work Programme (YMWP) the governor stated that a monthly sum of N500m were been disbursed for youth empowerment to oil producing areas of the state, adding that YMWP promises to employ as much as more Imo youths before the end of its programme adding that youth who are jobless in Imo state after the program would be arrested as he also enjoined them to shun all social vices.
In an address presented by the Transition Committee Chairman of Nwangele, Hon. Okey Onyemelusi, he recalled the events that preceded before Rochas Okorocha emerged victorious and pointed out that Governor Rochas did not seek for power for the sake of it but to rescue the state from infrastructural degradation, epileptic educational system and community underdevelopment, the TC chairman reeled out his achievement which includes execution and completion of new and abandoned projects at the council secretariat, plus a round-about at Eke-Ukwu Amaigbo.
Speaking earlier, Hon. Bar Jude Uzoukwu representing Agbajie Ward 1 commended the governor for his visit saying it has enlightened the people on the governor’s commitments towards good governance and improving the living standards of Imolites, he noted that his ward is hoping to for infrastructural boost through Governor Rochas Okorcha’s administration as he added that All Progressive Congress APC have brought the dividend of democracy Imo state.
