Household Pest And Vermins 2 Rodents And Dirt

health
Rodents are rats that cause a lot of trouble particularly in ports and warehouses. They would infest premises if food is left accessible to them. By their gnawing they may imperil the foundations of buildings, damage water pipes, electric cables and other fittings. They attack textiles and consume foul food. Rats inhabit warehouses in vast numbers and every effort should be made to destroy them. Rats breed from March to August and it is possible for one pair to give rise to more than 1000 offspring during one single breeding season.
Rats can carry specific diseases. They are responsible for spreading bacterial food poisoning and in this country Lassa fever which is a killer. Every effort should be made to repair buildings and stop up holes. Accumulation of refuge should be avoided, all rubbish and waste food bins should have well fitting lids. If the problem is serious it may be necessary to have the expert assistance of fumigation, a few rats may be destroyed by trapping or poisoning. In both cases great care must be exercised to ensure the safety of children and domestic pets, most rat poison are lethal. The disadvantages of poisoning is that the rats may die in a place which is inaccessible.
Mice -these are much more common in dwelling houses, particularly in those old houses or in the country. Mice also can destroy woodwork and fabrics and damage or infect food. Holes should be stopped up, woodwork repaired and all food kept in safe store cupboards. Mice are destroyed in the same way as rats. A cat, provided it is a good mouser is an asset.
Dirt. Dirt and disease go together. Dirt can be said to be the best friend of disease and the constant enemy of man. Bugs, lice, fleas and bacteria flourish in dirty surroundings. They do not survive long in clean ones. Soap and water and fresh air are the best deterrents. Spitting in the home or any public place is dirty, unpleasant and sometimes dangerous. If sputum contain germs they may survive drying and form infested dust. Tuberculosis can be spread in this way. Litter makes dirty unattractive surrounding whether in the house, garden or countryside. Empty unwashed food tins, food pots, paper nylon, water proofs etc all attract flies and rodents as well as create an untidy, unpleasant appearance. From early age children can be taught to be reasonably clean and tidy, can learn to appreciate cleanliness in their home, schools and surroundings. The best and most effective way to teach children is to set them good example.
Healing words
Our father which art in heaven hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done in earth as in heaven. Matthew 6: 9, 10.
Healing is God’s will. The bible says there is no sickness in heaven. So know from the above scripture that it’s God’s will that there be no sickness on earth.
3John 2, says behold I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in good hesalth even as thy soul prospereth.
