Police Community Relation Committee (PCRC) has been charged to work more closely with the police to reduce crime to the barest minimum.
Ahiazu Mbaise Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Mr. Jonathan Modi gave charged in a meeting he held with the PCRC in the area, recently.
He restated police commitment to security of all and sundry and promised to work hard to restore public confidence for smooth realization of community policing goals.
The DPO reiterated that security is the business of all and not just the concern of goverment and few individuals alone and appealed for relevant timely information to enable police in tandem with other security agencies detect, prevent and control crime.
Mr. Modi maintained that criminals live and operate in human environment and not from other planets and therefore urged all to be vigilant, promptly report strange objects and suspicious moves.
He encouraged the committee to embarked on drive for enlarged strong membership based but warned against all comers affairs, insisting that the members must be of impeccable character and proven integrity.
He stressed need for membership Identification Card even as he cautioned against misuse while advising them to be patriotic and diligent in service to the nation as well as eschew erratic behaviours.
In his address earlier, the LGA PCRC Chairman, Chief John Osuagwu welcomed the DPO – CSP Modi, the Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) I – DSP. Celestine Anyakaora and DCO II – ASP Peter Mbagwu and guaranteed untainted synergy for effective community policing to reduce crime and insecurity.
He said the chapter has procured seats as well as remained financially upto-date at both state and area command levels, advising the DPO to work religiously without bias and shun gossips, mischief makers, money bags and power brokers.Speaking also, Nze Godwin Onyeananam lauded the present chapter leaders for resourcefulness, transparency and selfless service, calling for sincerity of purpose and duty from the police for joint actualization of set targets.
He lamented divulge of secrets and increase of bad eggs among men and officers, advocating constant re-orientation and retraining for efficient service delivery.
In a vote of thanks, the DCO, DSP Anyakaora appreciated hospitality shown them and promised that the division would never be found wanting in the the task of protection of lives and properties.
Highpoints of the forum were blessing of the DPO and DCO by the area PCRC elders and presetation of wall clock for time keeping to the DPO by the Chapter Chairman, Chief Osuagwu.
