The Free Education stipends in Imo State have been reintroduced ones again.
This was made known by the Imo State University Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Chairman Hon Mrs Gertrude Oduka in a chat with newsmen in Owerri.
According to the chairman, the Governor this time around went extra mile to give free uniform, stockings and canvas to all school children in Imo, adding that the school children at the same time will queue behind their parents to collect stipends, this she said is in line with the rescue mission agenda of Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha, Governor of Imo state.
The school materials according to a source are stored in over 150 containers and each carton in the container contains 24 pieces of stockings and canvas.
Over 300,000 school children have received their school items and stipends.
Our reporter who monitored the event said that Governor Rochas Okorocha and his wife flagged off the reintroduction of stipends and distribution of school materials to school children in Imo.
The Flagg off ceremony as we learnt took place at Owerri Municipal Council.
In his speech at the ceremony Governor Okorocha said he has embarked on a total adoption of school children and with the hope that parents will be rescued from the problems they are facing in training their children in school adding that Education remains the highest legacy. He noted that the stipends will serve as additional income to many families in the state.
The TC Chairman of Owerri Municipal Council Hon Akuchie while addressing people during the flag off ceremony praised Governor Okorocha for the giant strides he has recorded since he assumed office and promised that no child will be left out in the distribution of the materials and stipends to schools
In her own speech, TC Chairman of Owerri West Dr Mrs Liz Ejiogu advised Imolites to reciprocate to the good gesture of the Governor by voting for his continuity in 2015. She added that there is enough to share to school children.
