Barely two weeks after the sudden redeployment of the former Accountant General of the state, Sir George Etche, fresh pacts have continued to emerge as reasons why Governor Rochas Okorocha removed the career civil servant to another ministry.
Penultimate week, Governor Rochas Okorocha had in a swift ministerial shakeup redeployed few permanent secretaries in the state including the former Accountant General who now heads the ministry of works and transport as the permanent secretary.
Trumpeta has it in good authority that the Ngor Okpala born financial guru was caught in the web of ethnic cleansing which has currently bedevilled Governor Okoroch’s administration with the perceived “Orlu agenda”.
Our investigation further disclosed that top Okorocha’s henchmen were raising eyebrows that most of the sensitive positions in the present administration related to finance have been in the hands of people from Owerri and Okigwe zones, leaving Orlu zone in the lurch.
Among the positions which they alleged has been hijacked by the people include the Deputy Governor of the state, the Chief of staff to the Governor, the Head of service, the Accountant General and Finance commissioner handled by Okigwe zoneman, Chike Okafor.
A top official in Okorocha’s office from his LGA is said to be the architect of the orchestrated Orlu agenda now going on in the present administration.
Trumpeta further learnt that Etche escaped sack from the civil service by whiskers when plans to retire him was softened based on advise from the ministry of justice that his premature retirement would be uncalled for considering that previous cases of former permanent secretaries relieved of their appointments in unjust manner are still pending in court. It was learnt that Etche’s outer was stamped on March 3, 2014 before the sudden change.
This newspaper further gathered that the appointment of Mrs Udogu from Awomama as the new Accountant General of the state is one of the series in the alleged operation wipe out Owerri zone from major and sensitive positions in the Okorocha’s administration.
Piged by the development, the wife of the Governor Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha is said to be uncomfortable with the development. The story has it that Her Excellency enjoy tremendous support from the appointees from Owerri zone who she see as her children and confidants because of their loyalty to the administration.
