Senator Christy Anyanwu, one of the Aspirants for the 2015 Imo Governorship election has said that she joined the race to contribute her quota to the development of Imo sate, pointing out that should the electorate give her their mandate in 2015, Imo state will be a reference point to other states in Nigeria.
The Senator representing Owerri zone at the Red chamber of the National Assembly disclosed that Imo people should judge her with the quality representation she has brought to Owerri Senatorial zone, a position without Executive Powers, much more when given the authority to husband and utilize Imo resources.
The female Senator maintained that she has lived up to espection in the Senate populated more by the male folks, adding that women should be given more challenges to exhibit their intellectual and administrative prowess, stressing that she has the qualities to take Imo state out of the woods, because she is joining the race with enough political experience to lead a state like Imo state.
The veteran Journalist and Entrepreneur said that it is time Imo people looked towards women to change the state for the better, pointing out that a level playing ground should be provided for all aspirants, devoid of gender sentiment, adding that today in the world, many Women are occupying the highest political positions in their countries, and they are doing extremely well.
Senator Chris Anyanwu said that given the chance, Imo state will record astonishing progress, as she had already articulated how the state can be pushed to the next level which she said is feasible, but only needs serious commitment to see the programmes through.
Senator Anyanwu who recently returned to the PDP said she would have since rejoined the party but was waiting for Court verdict on the carpet-crossing matter at the National Assembly, adding that she is not new to PDP, only that she left and is now back, stressing that she can not run away from PDP for any body as she has contributed a lot to the building of the party, having been a foundation member.
