A People Democratic Party PDP chieftain in Owerri North LGA, Chief Julian Oguike has implored the Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha to always obey the law of the land, so that his subjects can follow his foot step.
Chief Oguike who spoke to Imo Trumpeta in Owerri was reacting to many of the actions of the governor which he said bordered on impunity.
He mentioned theAppeal Courtjudgement which recalled sacked Council Chairmen, pointing out that Gov. Okorocha should not have sacked them in the first place, if he applies the rule of law in his administration.
“It is an open fact even to the layman on the street that no elected officer could be removed from office by fiat but through impeachment, which follows due process” Chief Oguike said.
The PDP chieftain who hails from Agbala community mentioned the sacking of members of ISIEC, ISOPADEC, Judiciary commission and non payment of Allowances owed past appointees in the State as act of impunity which is against the rule of law.
He said the 10,000 thousand youths who lost their jobs through Radio announcement by the governor is the height of insensitivity by a Chief Executive to the citizens, pointing out that those thrown into the unemployment market through that act can be a security risk to the society, adding that since their recruitment followed Civil Service Rules, it was not fair to have sacked them just like that.
“The Governor should obey the rule of law by making due process his watch word. If a Governor becomes lawless, most of his followers may toe the same line, and it becomes an invitation for chaos” he said.
He however asked the people of Imo state to be law abiding, stressing that Okorocha’s regime is a phase in Imo evolution, which would one day become history, as no person remains in power forever.
