Ever imagined how some men who married beautiful wives always keep their eyes and hearts glued to other women. The force of their passion will toss them to and fro but most of the times the wind of their evil passion will leave them groveling at the feet of women whom their wives are better off than in several ways.
A critical research at one point in time will reveal that Nwanyi ka- ibe ya meaning the woman who is superior than others and who is indeed the woman of the house of such a man is more educated, more sophisticated, much taller and most times than not better behaved than the woman being chased after outside.
When you meet such men who have been struck by the deadly disease of running around other women, you see them make expensive promises to the mistress. Oh! Sure, he is prepared to pay her visa ticket to Casablanca, or build her a mansion in Ikoyi or Victoria Island or even Lekki, of course most of them meant what they promise and most of the times they fulfill such promises to their mistresses while the woman at home gets nothing other than battering whenever she raises any question as to the bad behavior. The wife at home suffers untold emotional trauma, denial of her fundamental rights like feeding money, and other things that will bring joy and happiness to her just because another woman has taken root in the domain or the heart of the man who once cherished her. Today, she suffers neglect, wets her pillow with tears as she keeps watch at night simply because her husband has murdered her sleep.
There is no doubt that some women are bad in character and as such can drive their husbands to act silly. There are some women who nag, keep dirty habits and usually forget that such behaviours may force a man to seek some peace outside his matrimonial home. Even at that still, nothing justifies a promiscuous life. The society frowns at it, our culture and religion inclusive, all condemn the act of adultery.
It becomes most painful when a man has a beautiful wife at home. It is even more so when this wife at home is highly cultured and does her bits as a wife and her man still runs around anything on skirt to satisfy his lost. At such moments, I have pondered at what could be the force behind the man. Is the man living under a curse or what? Remember my dear man that this is a woman that once gave you sleepless nights to have. During the time you came to ask her hand in marriage you went through hurdles to have her as your own.
The journey to have her as a wife began with the period of wooing her. At that period you spent your cash, time and gifts on her. You prayed fervently too that God should touch her heart so that you can be her man. Think back on the day you proposed to her. You came crashing on your knees with your bunch of flowers and engagement ring pleading that she should be yours. Oh I can imagine vividly how you have warned any other thing on skirt to stay off you because you have finally made your choice on the woman who is now your wife. You tried to put up a “holier than thou” attitude. You served her tea at the door of her return from work or even in bed. Her calls were the only calls that mattered most. During these wooing periods you tried not to mis-behave so that the lady will accept you. In fact you were charming, well behaved, responsible and caring that when she brought your case to the score board you made the highest mark among all the seemingly good men coming for her. The reason why your proposal was accepted was because you were good.
What has gone wrong and where did she go wrong to make her deserve such treatment of you condescending so low as to touch the breast of you maid secretly? Why will you engage in a secret romance with your maid who is naive, young and dirty? That maid came as a servant to serve you and you are the master. She doesn’t belong to the same level of life with you. That is why she trembles at your call and takes every bit of you command including climbing on your matrimonial bed. How come you can feel comfortable going naked before a maid who is not your match? What she carries in -between is not mature, nor a well garnished meal. Indeed, it is not a done food so why eat a food that is half done that has not even reached the stage of a delicacy? I see that, as the height of irresponsibility on your part.
How about the ones who leave their beautiful and well nurtured wives and run around ugly creatures on skirt. The most annoying part is that some men practice promiscuity with impunity to the extent that they bring their mistresses home and some have even slept with them in their matrimonial homes because madam travelled or something like that.
I actually know of a highly placed man in the society who has been running around another woman simply because his wife travelled out side the country. The man has done virtually everything to have this said lady but the decent lady has remained adamant in her refusal of his amorous and poisonous pleas.
