The anxiety reigning in the family house of the Agbaso’s of Emekuku, Owerri North about the safety of one of their sons, Pastor Austin Agbaso who was kidnapped on Sunday has relaxed as the Pentecostal cleric has been freed.
News filtered in Wednesday night that Pastor Agbaso, the younger brother to prominent politician and APGA Chieftain, Chief Martin Agbaso has been left off the hook by his abduction who kept him hostage for three days.
Confirming the incident, the police public Relations Officer, PPRO, for the Imo State Command, Joy Elomoko (DSP) said that Pastor Agbaso was released unhurt and without ransom following effort of the men of the Nigeria Police in battling the suspected gunmen. The command spokes person further revealed that it was an all day combat as the criminal moved and changed position whenever police closed up on them before the victim was finally rescued in good condition.
Trumpeta however learnt that about nine suspects are already in the anti-kidnapping cell of the police explaining their roles in the whole saga. They were arrested in the course of rescuing Agbaso.
Meanwhile, the Agbaso family has thumped up to security agencies in the state for quick response and success achieved in combating the kidnappers. Chief Martin Agbaso told Trumpeta over the telephone that they are overwhelmed by the spirited efforts of the police and Agwa people who through their contributions and prayers led to the successful release of his brother.
He particularly expressed gratitude to the states anti-kidnapping squared, the SSS and indeed the commissioner of police for their bravery.
Agbaso was also was grateful to numerous friends, relations and men of goodwill who he said their prayers played great role in the release of his younger brother.
