Chief Nnamdi Anyaehie has received the instrument of office as the Acting Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Imo State Chapter, after the former chairman, Chief Eze Duruiheoma (SAN) was appointed the chairman of National Population Commission, NPC, by President Gookluck Jonathan.
Anyaehie, in a brief ceremony, received his “staff of office” from the State Secretary of the Party, Sir George Egu, who has been holding forth, according to the party’s constitution.
This latest development brings to an end, at least for now, the squabble surrounding Anyaehie’s appointment which has been resisted by a section of the party, particularly some members from Orlu zone, where the position is zoned to. The Nkwere born politician presided over the state working committee meeting yesterday at the party office.
Anyaehie expressed optimism that he will take Imo PDP to another level, and urged all members to give him their support for the party to regain all lost grounds in the state.
He pledged to treat all members with equal dignity and respect, adding that all hands must be on deck for PDP to reclaim the Governorship seat of Imo State come 2015 election.
Chief Nnamdi Anyaehie hails from Nkwere LGA and is a son of Late Sir John Anyaehie, a business mogul and political heavy weight of no mean repute.
