The Media Consultant to the former Governor of Imo State, Dr Ikedi Ohakim, Dr Etelbert Okere has been decorated by St Thomas Catholic Church, Umuowa, in Ngor Okpala Local Government Area, with the Award of “Opara St Thomas”.
The ceremony which attracted many dignitaries took place at the church premises after the church service.
Accepting the award, Dr Okere thanked the church for finding him worthy to be so decorated with the recognition, pointing out that the award will spur him more into doing good and living a life of service to humanity, pointing out that the award remains important to him as it came from the church located in his own community.
Dr Okere thanked the women and men ofSt Thomas, pointing out that it is their activities which keep life bubbling in the community, since not every body will leave the village for greener pastures elsewhere.
“When I see you people I feel happy because, it is your work and activities that sustain this town, since all of us can not leave the community for the cities” Okere said.
Okere later took his guests to his country home, where he feted them with choice wines and food.
