The state Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Imo State Chapter, Barrister Cyprian Akaolisa has told Trumpeta that despite the plethora of qualified and tested aspirants jostling for the Party’s Governorship ticket in 2015, only the party, through the Primaries will determine who flies the party’s flag in the election proper.
Speaking in Owerri yesterday, Akaolisa said the return of Senator Ifeanyi Araraume back to the PDP is a good omen, even as it has swollen the number of aspirants seeking to Governor Imo through the PDP.
The Legal Officer described Araraume as a very credible Aspirant, with political, business and administrative experience who can lead the PDP to the Imo Governorship battle if he picks the ticket. He also said Araraume has the capabilities to change, and reengineer Imo PDP to a more solid and focused political party.
He maintained that PDP needed aspirants like Senator Araraume to dislodge Governor Rochas Okorocha from office come 2015 election, pointing out that Araraume has all it requires to give Okorocha a big fight for PDP to regain the Guber seat it lost in the state in 2011.
“PDP needs a seasoned politician, a tested technocrat and astute business man like Senator Ifeanyi Araraume to face the incumbent Government in Imo State led by Rochas Okorocha in the 2015 Guber election” Akaolisa said.
The PDP Chieftain disclosed that although Okorocha has turned out to be a total failure, and would be removed from office through the polls in 2015, yet PDP still needs to give the ticket to a strong-willed person who can withstand all that Okorocha can throw.
While admitting he would prefer Araraume among the qualified Aspirants from the PDP, the Orsu LGA born former Council Boss maintained that the PDP has the last say, since it is only the party that will determine who hoists the party’s flag during the 2015 Imo Governorship election.
