For his timely absence from the family house at the village Amazano, in Njaba LGA, nobody knows what would have been the story of the life of the former Deputy Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Chief Chuma Nnaji.
Suspected assassins whose identities have not been ascertained stormed the country home of Chief Nnaji at Amazano autonomous community, Umuaka in Njaba Local Government Area in search of the former two-time lawmaker who represented the area.
Trumpeta learnt that six heavily armed gunmen stormed the Nnaji’s family house where they demanded to see the former Commissioner for Information and Strategy who was back for the Christmas and New Year festivities.
Unfortunately for the suspected assassins sporting vests akin to police bullet proof T-shirts, Nnaji had moved out of the village earlier. The disappointed gunmen however met the aged mother who was unhurt. The aged mother who was startled by the presence of gun-totting men without any identification requested the suspected men to take away her life than hurt his son.
The gunmen after searching the entire house without seeing their prey expressed disappointment that they missed their target. The suspected assassins however left the mother unhurt and moved away from the compound.
Efforts to get Nnaji speak on the matter was futile as his phone number was not reachable.
Trumpeta learnt that youths of the community have met to reflect on the development even as security agencies have been contacted and investigations have commenced on the matter.
