Imo Women Alliance have lambasted Hon. Juliet Akanno; a one time member representing Njaba/ Isu/ Nkwerre/ Nwangele Federal Constitutions on her reckless statement targeted at the Minister of Foreign Affairs Prof (Mrs) Viola Onwuliri to mind her foreign affairs business rather than asking the governor of Imo State Owelle Rochas Okorocha to account for the 140billion LG funds accruing to the Imo state since the inception of his administration.
The Chairperson of the group; Chief (Mrs) Nnenna Mbadiwe stated this in Owerri while addressing newsmen on the alleged misappropriation of the 140 billion LG funds in Imo State. She described Hon. Akanno as trying to chide a weighty topic of that manner by joining issues with the Minister just to grab media attention after a long exit from the political scene and score a cheap political point. She also advised Hon Akanno to deploy a well strategic and diplomatic means of securing an Orlu zonal APC Senatorial ticket of which Rochas Okorocha would surely call the shots instead of trying to romance and defend the governor unnecessarily.
She continued by urging Hon. Akanno to try her best possible to come out of the shell of sentiments and corruption that is perpetually beclouding her morals and try to discourage corruption when situation arises.
According to her, “it is regrettable that the people who are jumping up and down in defence of Governor Okorocha are such as Chief Eze Anugwom who has no character.
In civilized nations, people like Anugwom should not be seen at all talkless of being heard in any matter of public interest” she insists.
Also reacting, the Secretary; Lady Georgiana Igwe tasked Hon. Akanno to as a matter of urgency and stewardship to people of her constituency, account for all the funds that accrued to her office during her tenure as a representative. She again advised the below par lawmaker to refrain from discrediting an accomplished, celebrated, diligent, resourceful and an embodiment of womanhood of the like of Prof Viola Onwuliri who has attracted a lot of federal road networks in the state, transformers, MDG Projects, alleviation of the sufferings of Imo people in the diaspora, attraction of foreign direct investments and trade, international scholarships, alternative electricity supply to her home town, upgrading of health and educational facilities, NDDC Projects, influenced the employment of hundreds of Imo youths in federals ministries and parastatals, just to mention but a few.
She concluded by challenging Gov. Okorocha to tow the path of honor thereby setting a befitting precedence for his predecessors. We expect that governor should have tackled the issue on ground by telling Imo people how the said 140 billion accruing to LGs were disbursed in this administration and facilities on ground to justify such huge federal revenue instead of using diversionary tactics to sweep the burning issue under the carpet by asking even the past military governors to account for such funds thereby amounting to a high level of administrative illiteracy and irresponsibility, she added.
