The Commissioner for Information and Strategy Imo State, Dr TOE Ekechi has declared that the Governor Rochas Okorocha’s Policy Platform, the “Imo Rescue Mission”, is run by human beings and therefore bound to make mistakes, but what is important is for the body to correct itself and move on.
The Commissioner said this yesterday in Owerri while responding to questions during an Orient Television Programme, anchored by Rev Uche Onyeziri, with Mr Henry Ekpe of Trumpeta Newspaper and Elder Lambert Ojukwu of Nigerian News point on the panel.
Reacting to a question, Dr Ekechi said that what Rescue Mission stands for is to address the peoples immediate needs, and tackle them to control the situation, and then seek ways of perfection, pointing out that the Okorocha administration may have constructed roads that many deemed inferior, but what is important is that such roads had served the purpose of ameliorating the transportation problems, while improvements are going on.
He maintained that what Okorocha has done in the last two years was to embark on massive projects at the same time, pointing out that the administration is at the “finishing touches” stage now this year which will see the completion of most of the projects in the state.
On the fate of the (10,000) ten thousand employees of Imo Ministries sacked by the Okorocha administration, that were engaged by the previous administration, the Ngor Okpala born Media guru stated that the appointments were tainted with political affiliations than professionalism, which he said necessitated the Okorocha administration to review the exercise which led many unqualified candidates to lose their positions.
On the question why there is cash squiz in Imo state, with limited money circulation, Ekechi declared that the Okorocha policy does not believe in “sharing” money to political elites, but in spending the money in laying a strong economic base that will redistribute wealth in the state.
Responding to a caller’s question that the Community Government Council CGC has failed, as Government is still owing those they appointed to look after the communities, the Commissioner for Information replied that the Okorocha administration was not owing any official of the CGC as it has even paid arrears owed them and promised to look into agitations from communities still saying they are been owed by Government.
Whether the state Governor, Owelle Rochas Okoroha has parted ways with his Deputy, Prince Eze Madumere? He said that the rumour of quarrel between both men is the figment of imagination of certain people, pointing out that the Deputy Governor still carries out his constituted duties, and gives out directives to appointees, which are promptly carried out, stressing that only the prophets of doom are imagining that the good relationship between the Deputy and his Boss would get sour, adding that their evil machinations will not come to pass .
