The Speaker of Imo House of Assembly, Rt Hon Benji Uwajumogu has been described as an unstable politician whose followers most be wary of him at all times as he uses and dumps people because he is an ingrate.
This was disclosed by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ihitte Uboma LGA Chapter, led by Bar Azuama, which said Uwajumogu used the party and its members in the area to achieve his selfish end and dumped them like a pack of rags.
Speaking at a PDP rally in Okohia, Isiala Mbano LGA, Bar Azuama said that Uwajumogu joined the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, without consulting any body, pointing out that should Uwajumogu express any interest to run for any elective position in Ihitte-Uboma in 2015, he will meet his political waterloo.
“Uwajumogu joined APGA without consulting anybody. He threw us (PDP) away as dirty water. But he shall pay for this betrayal and ingratitude” the PDP Chairman said.
Azuama expressed happiness that since Uwajumogu left the PDP, the party has grown in number and strength and commended the contributions of such people like Chief Peter Orji, Sir George Egu, Chief Basil Ogwuegbu, Hon Jonas Okeke and others in making sure that PDP remained intact in Ihitte Uboma.
The party Boss disclosed that PDP must sit up to meet the challenges facing it both at the State and LGA levels, pointing out that PDP followers are numerous in all the LGAs in Imo State, and only need encouragement, which he said has galvanized the party since after the 2011 election.
The legal practitioner cum politician maintained that the party will clean the stakes in the forthcoming election, but warned that the party must look for those committed both in body and soul to the party, and not those who will be voted into office, only to sale and abandon the party for personal aggrandizement, adding that next time what befell to the party in Ihitte Uboma will not repeat itself as PDP in Ihitte Uboma has learnt its lessons.
Meanwhile, worried at the nefarious and fragrant abuse of the PDP Constitution by the members of OZOPOLF, the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ikeduru, Deacon Innocent Ofurum has expressed his determination to invoke the party’s Constitution on any erring member.
Addressing LGA ward executives and leaders of the party at the PDP headquarters in Iho-Ikeduru yesterday, the party Chairman frowned at the situation where PDP members of the Owerri Zone Political Leadership Forum in the area buoycot party meetings and functions at the instruction of its leadership.
Ofurum explained that he has done everything within his powers to ensure that good counsel prevailed but to no avail. He warned, “PDP as a party is supreme to any other socio-cultural or political grouping within the party and therefore should be respected. OZOPOLF, OPF or any other association cannot be superior to the party constutionally”.
Quoting relevant sections of the party’s constitution as it affects discipline, Deacon Ofurum made it clear that anybody summoning local government party meeting outside the party office or doing anything that undermines the rules and regulations of the party is doing anti-party activity and therefore is guilty of suspension or expulsion as the case may be.
He therefore warned all PDP members in the Local government to be mindful of their activities to avoid sanctions from the party.
Speaking also the member representing Ikeduru in the State House of Assembly, Chief Samuel Anyanwu extolled the Leadership Qualities of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu who is an indigene of the local government as well as the PDP Leadership at the area.
Chief Anyanwu also sued for peace and unity among the party membership in the local government to be able to face future election challenges in the state.
Other people who spoke including the state youth leader of the party, Hon Okey Ezuruike, Executive Local government Chairman of Ikeduru, Chief Sam Aka, Local Government Secretary of the party, Hon Emma Alaribe and a former Executive Chairman of the Local Government, Barrister Uche Igbokwe expressed displeasure at the level of anti-party activities by some members in the area.
While assuring the party Chairman of the continued support of Ikeduru people, they urged him to be resolute and firm in applying the party constitution whenever there is need for it as that is the only way to restore the dignity of the party.
